The Rangsit ?City ?Municipality comprises of 7 divisions as follow:

1. Office of the Municipal Clerk has authorization and responsibility concerning general affairs of the municipality and other duties that have not been designated to any specific government agencies.? This office is divided into General Administrative Section, Personnel Section, Registration and Identification Card Section, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Section, as well as Security Section.

2. Division of Technical and Planning Division is responsible for the technical and planning works including other related assignments.? This division is divided into General Administrative Section, Policy and Planning Analysis Division, Local Information Service Section, Research and Assessment Section, Legal Section, and Budget Planning Section.

3. Bureau of Finance ?is responsible for works related to income generation, collection for housing and land tax, land maintenance tax, signboard tax, fees, and issuance of other permission certificates, planning for municipality?s revenue management efficiency, as well as other related or assigned duties.? This division is divided into General Administrative Section, Taxing Map and Property Registration Section, Benefit Section, Monetary and Account Section, Finance and Budget Section, Asset and Property Section, Income Accelerating Section, and Financial Statistics Section.

4. Bureau of Public Works is responsible for works related to city planning, public infrastructure and utilities such as streetlights, roads, bridges, dams, flooding prevention, survey, public and private construction control as well as other related or assigned works. The division is divided into Engineer Section, Architecture Section, Building Control Section, Infrastructure Section, Public Place and Electronics Section, Machinery Section, and Public Parks Section.

5. Division of Public Health and Environment Division is responsible for contagious disease prevention and control, sanitary works, public cleansing and maintenance in the municipality, garbage disposal, clinical care and health development as well as other related jobs.? The division is divided into Health Planning Section, Environmental Health and Sanitary Section, Campaigning and Training Section, Public Cleansing Section, Veterinarian Section, Health Development Section, Contagious Disease Prevention and Control Section, Dental Health Section, Health Center Section.

6. Division of Education Division is responsible for provision of compulsory education for pre-school children in the municipality, works related to religions, culture and tradition, arts, education supervision, children and youth activities, and outside-school education.? The division is divided into General Administrative Section, Personnel Section, Academic Management Section, Finance Section, Schools Section, Education Supervision Section, Students Affairs Section, Children and Youth Activities Section, and Outside-School Education Section.

7. Division of Social Welfare ?is responsible for community development, social works, and other related or assigned works.? The division is divided into General Administrative Section, Community Development Section, and Social Works Section.

Geographical Data

The? Rangsit City Municipality is located in Prachathibhat district,? amphur Thanyaburi , Pathumthani Province.? The area is a low flat plain, having RangsitPrayunsakCanal as the main water resource linking between Chao PhrayaRiver and NakhonNayokRiver.? The canal is 38.4 kilometers long with? 14 canal branches, 3 of which are in the area of Rangsit City Municipality.? The climate is generally similar to those of other provinces in central Thailand, which can be divided into 3 seasons namely hot season (February - April), rainy season (May - September), and cold season (October - January).? Average temperature is lowest at 20 degrees Celsius and highest at? 30 degrees Celsius.

The Rangsit? City Municipality has the area of 20.8 square kilometers, covering the whole area of Prachathibhat district; bordering Klong Luang? district municipality and Klong Sam district? administrative? organization? of Klong Luang? District in the north,? Beung Yeetho district? administrative? organization of? Thanyaburi? District in the east , Kukhot? Town municipality and? Kukhot Town? administrative? organization? of Lum Lukka? Amphur in the south, and? Bang Poon sub-district administrative organization of Muang? Amphur in the west.

Population

During the year 1980 ? 2000, the population of? the RangsitMunicipality has increased rapidly, especially those in the range of working age.? The reasons for this increase are:

1. The fast expansion of economy and industry.
2. The newly emerged residential areas for people who go to work or study in Bangkok.
3. The expansion of universities campus.
4. The unregistered population who come to work or study in the area.

The number of registered population in Rangsit? City Municipality is 77,243 people.

Economy

Economy in the Rangsit City Municipality is a mixture of industrial, commercial and service sectors with only small amount of agricultural sector. Presently, the industrial, commercial and service sectors have continued to expand and replaced most of the agricultural area.

In the Present

In the past, Rangsit was the land of agriculture as many canals were dug to facilitate the agricultural industry.? However, this condition has changed since the expansion of the residential communities and commuters from Bangkok have moved to live in Rangsit and go to work in Bangkok during the day.

Moreover, the area between Paholyothin and Rangsit-Nakhon Nayok Roads is a commuting hub for people travelling to the north and northeastern parts of Thailand or crossing borders to other countries.

In addition, the Rangsit City Municipality is a place where important government agencies, organizations as well as famous universities and schools have expanded to in order to getaway from the crowded area of Bangkok.
